XXIII Annual Meeting LACEA LAMES 2018

 

The Latin American and Caribbean Economic Association Meeting (LACEA) and the Latin American Meeting of the Econometric Society (LAMES) are the most relevant academic events in the economics and econometrics fields in the region. This year, the 23rd edition takes place in Guayaquil and is hosted by ESPOL University, from November 8th to 10th. The objective of the conference is to encourage debates on important economic issues for the Latin American and Caribbean region through the active participation of academics, researchers, policy-makers, members of international organizations and students.

Guayaquil is the largest city in Ecuador. Located on the Pacific coast, Guayaquil is the chief port and the economic engine of the country with a population of approximately 2.6 million inhabitants, according to the last census made in 2010.

ESPOL is the first public university in Ecuador. With a population of more than 9600 students, it offers 33 undergraduate programs, 17 graduate programs and 1 doctorate program. It also administers 11 research centers. ESPOL is always seeking the highest quality education. Hence, the aim is to obtain international certification of all its academic programs in a 5 year term.
